FunKe Science Merchandise

The whole FunKe Science team had the pleasure of attending yet another interactive event with our new partners Loho learning. The bookfair started on Wednesday 25th September and ended on Sunday 29th September and was held at Sarit Expo Centre. This was a very mind opening event as we met with different exhibitors from different companies like Sprix among others. This was a chance to advertise the STEM Africa festival not just to the learners but to parents and other interested individuals.

    Bed of nails

We had a lot of traffic through out the bookfair with students wanting to repeat the experiments and some coming to buy some of the merchandise we were selling like FKS stickers, lab coats, science packs and science kits. We had learners and teachers from different schools visit our booth and get to know about Funke Science which resulted in them coming back for more experiments and even inviting us to their school for sessions. We also got to sell some science kits which was also another win for us as we had just launched the GEN 4 of the science kit. Our science kit got so much attention not just from teachers but from parents and other exhibitors present at the book fair.

One of our team members also attended a training on copyright laws organized by KECOBO. Initially, it was about copyrights where she was a bit doubtful but halfway through the training , she realized it could actually be valuable for our pedagogy team. Who knew copyright could be insightful to be a part of the training.

Our booth caught the attention of major figures in the educational and news industry such as Swaleh Mdoe, who interacted with Mr. Dennis, our CTO. Mr. Swaleh was also interested in working with FKS in translating our upcoming book in Swahili. Mr. Swaleh graced us with one of his books and wrote a message at the back of his book which was to be delivered to our co-founder’s daughter encouraging her to study smart. Our experience at the bookfair was one of a kind as we sold merchandise we even had no intention of selling like the Funke Science stickers. We also got to meet with people in the world of STEM like people in the world of robotics and how they have been able to simplify learning robotics to an animation video showing learners importance and the basics of coding and how they would apply it in real life which was quite similar to what Funke Science does but with science.

Over all the bookfair was a success thanks to the learners, parents and exhibitors and most of all Loho Learning who invited us and we couldn’t be happier.
